Cassique Golf Club
Named for the Kiawah Indian chief who once hunted these lands, Cassique's 6,960-yard test ranges over former agricultural fields, through maritime forests, and along marshes where the Kiawah River meets the Atlantic Ocean.

Five-time British Open champion Tom Watson crafted the par-72 Cassique course, his first solo design in North America. Since its opening in 2000, Cassique has garnered numerous accolades.
Watson's walkable design recalls the links courses of Scotland and Ireland where he dominated the game. Like those classic seaside settings, Cassique offers little protection from ocean winds, so Watson fashioned holes that could be played in numerous ways depending upon the conditions and the creativity of the golfer.
Course Information
The semi-tropical climate just slows things down, ya'll. The long, lazy growing seasons of the Carolinas are extended beyond those north of the Mason-Dixon line. This contributed to a culture on John's Island that forced a slower pace than that of the "big city" of Charleston, just over the river. Farm work has to quit in South Carolina's late afternoon heat. Long sips of sweet tea go hand-in-hand with a hiatus and have become tradition in the Lowcountry. Come visit us. Once you've crossed the bridge, the patience of planters will wash over you as you explore a true southern sea island community.
